Leah and Ken Stafford write:
The barrels were sourced from Artisan Barrels and Tanks. They are French Oak and of high quality. Right now we have one 14.5 gallon (2022 cooperage which as new sells for $360), and qty 2, 29 gallon barrels (2018, 2021 cooperage which as new sells for $560). We are selling these at a 50% discount; $180 for the 14.5 gal barrel, and $280 for the 29 gal barrels. They have been well cared for and were emptied in early March 2025 prior to bottling. They are stored dry using burned sulfur.
We also have mobile racks for both sizes of barrels, with the small barrel sliding under the bigger barrel. We are asking $25 for the small rack and $50 for the 29 gal barrel rack. For both barrels, if full, are essentially immobile, so the racks are essential to moving these barrels around. These racks and setup in our cellar were highlighted in an article we wrote for WineMaker Magazine; Maximizing Cellar Space. These have produced Gold, Double Gold and Best of Show wines from our estate vineyard.
