White and rose wine evaluations. Bring your 2024 white and rose wines to SHW’s February 19 meeting to be evaluated by guest evaluator Brad Alderson.
If you’d like your wine evaluated by Brad, please:
- Complete the wine evaluation form and email it to VP Byron Froman, befroman@gmail.com, no later than Monday, February 17. (Optional: please include any pictures showing your winemaking journey to include with your data);
- Bring the equivalent of two 750ml bottles; Label the bottles with variety, vintage, and your name. Remove capsules and wax; and
- Check in with the cellar master before the meeting starts. The cellar master is usually at the bar behind the screen.
Bring your competition wines. SHW members can bring their competition wine entries to the meeting:
- Joe Morgan or Thad Rodgers will be accepting your State Fair wine entries at Turn Verein’s back parking lot from 6:30-7 pm. After 7 pm, entries will be accepted upstairs in the meeting room. Only entries that have been entered on-line and affixed with bottle labels will be accepted.
- Mark Smet will be accepting El Dorado County Fair‘s homemade wine and wine label entries at the meeting. Contact Mark ahead of the meeting at smet.vineyard@gmail.com to let him know he has your entries to pick up.
Logistics. The February 19 meeting starts at 7 pm upstairs at the Turn Verein located at 3349 J Street in Sacramento. Front doors open at 6:30 pm. Bring 2 wine glasses for your use, and an optional bottle to share. We are short on hospitality volunteers so let’s all do more than our part by helping set -up and particularly clean-up. No Tasting Table at February’s meeting.
