Bring your 2023 red Bordeaux variety wines for evaluation to the August 21 Club meeting.
We’re going roundtable format this time – that means what only you and other members sitting at your table will evaluate your wines with the judging sheet that judges use at the Club’s Jubilee Wine Competition.
We hope to accomplish three objectives with the goal of becoming better wine makers: 1) you’ll get more time to discuss your young wines and receive feedback; 2) members get experience evaluating wines; and 3) we learn to appreciate different palates and preferences. A seasoned wine maker will be seated at each table to help facilitate the evaluation.
- Red Bordeaux variety wines include cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot, cabernet franc, malbec, and touriga nacional.
- Bring just one 750 ml sample of each wine that you’d like evaluated. Please don’t add sulfites to your wine sample if bottling close to the meeting.
- Bring the stats for the wines. To help us evaluate, you know that we’ll be asking at least the basics: starting brix and pH, adjustments, yeast, primary and secondary fermentation history, how the wine got to where it is today, and any issues the wine may have.
There’s no Tasting Table at this meeting but you can bring any of your wines to the meeting for feedback from mentors.
For all attending, bring 2 wine glasses for your use. The meeting starts at 7 pm upstairs at the Turn Verein located at 3349 J Street in Sacramento. The front doors open after 6:30 pm.
Help keep everyone safe and healthy. Enjoy responsibly.
