Sacramento Home Winemakers 2024 Jubilee is on May 18-19. This weekend long celebration of wines and wine making camaraderie starts with a Club-exclusive wine competition on that Saturday. The next day, the wines and wine makers that captured Saturday’s top awards will be revealed at the Picnic – Awards Ceremony. Picnickers get to taste competition wines while munching on lunch under the shady trees.
Jubilee Wine Competition
Entries are now open and accepted through April 17. All members are encouraged to enter at least one wine – your first entry is free!
- Enter your wine candidates online.
- Your first entry is free; subsequent entries are $10. Only one 750 ml bottle is required per entry.
- Review the 2024 Jubilee Wine Competition Rules and Information and Divisions and Classifications before entering. This information is also linked on the Home page of the SHW website (www.sachomewine.com).
- This competition is open to current SHW members. If entering as a team, all team members must be Club members at the time of entry. Check with Membership Co-Chair Tammy Cross at lkcross@aol.com if you’re unsure of your membership status.
Jubilee Wine Label Competition
We’re winemakers and that means we’re all artists at heart and our creativity is often expressed through our wine labels.
- This wine label competition is open to SHW members only. A member does not need to enter a competition wine to enter into the label competition.
- No cost to enter the wine label competition.
- Submit your label entries along with your name, email and cell number during the same entry period and locations as the Jubilee’s wine entries, or mail labels to Coordinator Heather Rodgers.
- Wine labels that have previously won awards at SHW’s label competitions are not eligible to compete in this year’s contest.
- People’s Choice! Vote for your favorite labels at the Picnic on Sunday. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Check out last years label winners.
Jubilee Picnic – Awards Ceremony
- Celebrate the winemakers who earned the top awards at the Jubilee wine competition plus taste the wine competition’s entries (there were 150+ entries last year). Online picnic reservations coming soon.
- Club member Judy Pinegar’s has again donated her home winery and barn for this fun day (thank you, Judy!). Her place is roomy enough for all of us and it takes a crew to get the space ready to party. Judy is asking for volunteers to help the logistics both before and after the picnic. Thank you for stepping up!
- The competition’s wines, wine label candidates, and a silent auction will be located in Judy’s barn. If you have items to donate to the auction or can help, please contact Heather Rodgers.
Jubilee wine and label entries will be accepted at both the March 20 and April 17 monthly meetings. See the respective monthly meeting blog posts for details. Entries will also be accepted at various locations during the entry period. Consult the Competition Rules and Information for the specifics.
